She couldn't help a tiny giggle at his reaction. Resting a hand on the table, she fiddled with the pencil and kept her gaze fixed on the boy as he spoke again. Smiling, she nodded slowly, rolling the pencil across the wood of the Ravenclaw table. "Yeah," she agreed, but frowned slightly at his last comment. Would his father really do such a thing based on his son's decision? She didn't agree with that, of course, and bit her lip thoughtfully. Eevana lifted a brow. "That's silly. Everyone thinks Muggles are dumb and worthless because they can't use magic, but I think they deserve credit for that exact reason." she went on, a little huffy in spite of herself. "My mum was a Muggle, but she went to Hogwarts and chose a magical career." Eevana fell silent, then, her face scrunching up a moment as she fought away overwhelming grief. She hadn't meant to mention her mum...it'd just slipped out. She wasn't used to talking about or thinking about her mother because of all the sadness it brought her. She swallowed, and managed to keep calm, giving a little shake of her head, braid dancing down her back. "Um, so, what's your first class today?" she asked shakily, inhaling a breath and fixing a green-eyed stare upon the boy. After a few more deep breaths she was back to normal. She wanted to keep the subject away from her mother if possible, but she had a feeling he'd ask. Or maybe not, maybe he'd understand. She never asked him about personal things...like all his scars. Her face fell, and she looked down, releasing a sigh. The pencil rolled across the table as she flicked it, and she reached to grab it back, keeping her hands busy.

Nofalo was quiet as Eevana spoke, but he didn't miss her use of past-tense when speaking of her mother. He decided not to pry, as she seemed a bit uncomfortable, and instead happily launched into the next offered topic. His hand instinctively went towards his bag, but he remembered without having to pull out his schedule this time. "I've got Charms first," he said, feeling a mixture of exhilaration and nerves rise in his throat at the thought. He was about to ask what class she had next, when there was a slight ruckus among the students, with shouts of "Look!" and "The owls!" Nofalo glanced up, and saw a flock of mail owls gliding far above, the enchanted ceiling showing a clear crisp Autumn morning as the children shouted in anticipation and the owls searched for their owners. He smiled and glanced down at Eevana, wondering if her owl would come with something for her. Nearly as soon as he'd thought that, the barn owl he'd seen with her when they'd been on the train to Hogwarts fluttered down, hooting lightly at the Ravenclaw girl around the paper in his beak. He almost seemed proud of her. He probably was. He carefully dropped the paper into Eevana's hands, and she stroked him in thanks. He ruffled his feathers happily, then noticed Nofalo. The boy immediately remembered that Eevana's owl didn't particularly like him, so he leaned back with a feeling of apprehension. The bird cocked his head, snipping his beak quietly at the Slytherin boy before unfurling his beautiful wings and taking flight. His wings whacked Nofalo on the head a bit as he rose, and the boy couldn't help but feel it was on purpose. He glared after the owl as he flew away. He rubbed his head, barely noticing that his hair was even messier now than it was earlier--he still hadn't combed it, and he didn't really intend to.

Nofalo turned his attention back to Eevana, who was beginning to open her letter. He smiled lightly and murmured, "Is it from your family?" He watched as she moved careful fingers to flip the envelope over to open it.

The young girl nodded, trying to remember when her Charms class was. In the afternoon, she thought, perhaps. Distracted from the conversation by flapping sounds and hooting, she lifted her head to see that the post had arrived. A number of students had exclaimed gleefully, but Eevana remained silent, searching to see if Nakamoren was among the number of beautiful birds that swooped over the tables. Ah, there he was! She smiled broadly, joy bubbling up inside her, her usual reaction to seeing her beloved pet. The owl dipped down and landed with a clatter, knocking a spoon off the table, and dropped the letter in the girl's hands. She stroked his soft plumage and inspected the letter. It was from her father, no surprise there. She lifted her head at Nakamoren again, noticing the tension between him and Nofalo once more. Frowning, she watched as her owl took off, one wing brushing against Nofalo. Eevana furrowed her brows, deciding she'd have to tell him off. She couldn't fathom why Nakamoren didn't like Nofalo. Letting out a huff, she tore open the letter and pulled out the parchment. It wasn't long, and written in a messy scribble that she easily recognized as her father's. "Yes," she replied to Nofalo, scanning down the page. It was just a simple greeting and reminder of simple things such as don't skip class, make friends, etc. It didn't seem too personal, but then that was her dad. Their relationship was...distant. She sniffed softly and tucked the letter and envelope in her bag, not really wanting to think much on it. "Sorry about my owl. I don't know why he does that! He's quite nice, honestly." she assured her friend, biting her lip again nervously. "I'll tell him to be polite." she added, trying to smile. As she glanced back towards the table, she realized food had appeared on the platters, and with mild interest, she grabbed a roll from one of the plates and began to nibble it thoughtfully. She really wasn't that hungry--nerves and excitement to be blamed--but she knew she ought to eat something. Pausing, she swallowed a bite and turned to Nofalo. "Oh, and my first class is Herbology...if you were interested."

Nofalo grimaced, feeling a bit skeptical that the owl would change his opinion just from a few harsh words. But it warmed his heart that she cared enough to try. He waited as she read her letter, reaching to the now-full platters of food along the tables of the Great Hall. He grabbed pumpkin muffin and a sausage link, stabbing the meat on his fork and biting off a piece from the end. He was starting to unwrap the paper from the pumpkin spice muffin when she spoke again. He grunted in acknowledgement, eyes going skyward. "Looks like a nice day for it," he commented, the enchanted ceiling already showing bright blue skies behind fluffy clouds. They chatted a bit as they ate breakfast, though Nofalo noticed how little she ate. He wanted to express his worry but he figured he'd leave her be now. He definitely understood what it felt like to have little appetite due to nerves. After a while, Nofalo noticed the Great Hall was beginning to clear out. He glanced along to walls in search of something to help tell time, and another grandfather clock--even larger than the one in the Transfiguration room--told him that it was a bit past 9:30. The first class started at 9:45, and he wanted to make sure he had plenty of time to get there. Eevana agreed, and the two friends stood, slinging bags over their shoulders. They left the Great Hall together, and before long came to the point yet again where they would go separate ways. The Slytherin boy turned back to her, suddenly feeling nervous as he fiddled with his tie. "So, I....I'll see you in Transfiguration, then...?" he mumbled, looking down for a few moments before his eyes flicked back to her face. He saw that she was also filled to the brim with nerves, and he naturally raised a hand. He hesitated, but before he could entirely stop himself, he let his hand rest lightly on Eevana's shoulder in an attempt to convey good wishes for just a moment before letting his hand fall, stuffing them both in his pockets. "Ehm, good luck in Herbology. You'll do fine. I mean, you're a Ravenclaw and all, so..."he trailed off, shaking his head to stop himself from rambling, his face reddening just a bit. "See ya!" he blurted, turning on his heel and waving back to her as he trotted off towards Charms class.

He kept thinking about Eevana until he finally made it to the door he'd discovered the night before. He stepped in through the threshold of the open Charms classroom, noting that only a handful of students were there yet. The First Year Slytherins had this Charms class with Hufflepuffs. He saw a small group of Hufflepuff kids clustered together in one of the middle-front desks, chatting happily. Two Slytherins were seated next to one another in the back. He recognised with dread that it was the twins, Joffrey and Melisandre Nothrop. Joffrey had been the one to tease him the night before when he'd noticed Nofalo had come back to the Slytherin common room after wandering the castle and of course seeing Eevana. Joffrey had short, straight, dirty blonde hair. His brown eyes looked a bit too small for his plain, flat face. His sister, Melisandre, had redder hair, a deep dark auburn. Where Joffrey's face was short and wide, Melisandre's was long and thin. She shared her brother's brown eyes and flattish features, giving her the appearance of a vaguely irritated horse. They were Pure-Bloods, and they were bullies. As he passed, he heard Melisandre giggle to her brother in a tone that was obviously meant for Nofalo to hear, "Ooh, look Joff, it's lover-boy~" Joffrey snorted an ugly laugh, raising his voice just slightly louder than his sister's: "Whatssa matter? Your boyfriend beat you up again?" the two laughed to each other, and Nofalo could practically feel his scars crawling along his skin. Luckily, none of the other students seemed to have heard or cared much about the twins' jeering. Still, he resisted the urge to pull his shirt collar up to hide even just a bit, and strode towards the front of the class. He stopped when he was a row or two behind the Hufflepuff group, going to the left row of desks rather than the right where they were. He lifted his bag over his shoulder, sliding it on the back of the chair. Nofalo rummaged inside for his parchment, quill and ink, and of course Miranda Goshawk's 'Standard Book of Spells' for Year 1. He arranged everything on his desk, letting himself slide down in his seat to slouch. His fingers found the edge of his wand sticking out of his robe pocket, and he took it out and twirled it mindlessly between his fingers, watching how the light shone dully along the nooks and crannies of the intricate design, wishing Eevana were sitting next to him.

When the time came for them to separate once more, Eevana shifted in place and blinked at her friend, running her hand down the shoulder strap of her bag. She managed a quick nod to his words, taking a slow breath. Her eyes widened as Nofalo's hand briefly rested on her shoulder, and she froze, warmth flooding her cheeks. Her gaze dipped to the ground as he went on. "Yeah, thanks....bye," she stammered out, lifting her head to see him depart, and raising her own hand in a pitiful wave before she turned and began to trek down the corridor. She was able to follow a pair of her fellow Ravenclaw first-years as they made their way to the greenhouses, and she reached the correct one in good time, entering to find a strange assortment of plants, and a few other students. Gryffindors. Eevana didn't see anyone who looked like a professor yet, so she just filed her way down and hopped on one of the stools that lined the long table. She ignored the other children, instead finding it interesting to stare around and study the plants. It smelled weird in the greenhouse, and the air was damp. She let out a little huff, missing her new-found friend, and waited for class to begin.

After Herbology, 10:49 found Eevana scrambling up the stairs. She simply couldn't wait to get to Transfiguration, which she knew she had with the Slytherins because of Nofalo. Controlling her pace now, she walked down the hall until she arrived at the classroom--after a few wrong turns here and there. She pushed the door open, finding only a few students present, as well as Professor Smethey at her desk in the front of the room. Nofalo wasn't here yet, and Eevana weaved her way to a seat in the second row, where she plopped her self down and pulled out her quill and parchment, as well as A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration. She let her wand stay in her lap, while she leaned against the back of the seat and eagerly awaited her friend's arrival.

His first Charms class was interesting, if mostly introductory. But he figured most of the classes this first day would be that way. He thought he'd like Charms well enough. As they were dismissed, Nofalo clumsily hurried to put his things away. He stuffed his parchment and quill back in his bag, pushing his seat in and tucking his Charms book under his arm to put away on the move so he could get to Transfiguration faster. As he passed the last couple of rows, someone roughly shoved the arm that held his book, and with a noise of surprise Nofalo stumbled as his 'Standard Book of Spells' flopped to the ground with a dull thud. He pulled his face into an impassive expression, bending to pick up the tome, doing his best to ignore the snickers of Joffrey and Melisandre as they passed him. This time, he safely tucked his text away in his bag, and set off as quickly as he could, weighed down a bit by his bag but lifted up by his high spirits. He thought he passed the Northrop twins, but he didn't care. At this point the only thing on his mind was getting to the Transfiguration classroom as quickly as he could. It was aggravatingly close to start-of-class time when Nofalo finally entered the room. He had hoped to be able to spend time with Eevana before class started, but now they would have perhaps five minutes due to the interruption of the Northrop siblings back in Charms. He pushed the thought of the unpleasant duo from his mind as he quickly spotted Eevana's head of familiar blonde hair. Gathering himself, Nofalo tried to not seem too excited as he made his way to the row where she was seated. She turned to look at him as he approached, the smile on her face causing his own mouth to rise in a grin so large he was sure it looked ridiculous. She nodded to the chair beside her, and he flopped his bag on the desk, himself following suit into the chair. "Hi," he said finally, and they both laughed. It felt good.

Her heart soared as he entered the classroom, and she watched him make his way towards the desk beside hers. They shared a laugh after he greeted her, both smiling broadly. "Hi," she replied breathlessly, fingering her wand in her lap. She stared at him for a moment until she started and glanced down at her desk, where the textbook sat, fresh and barely used. Of course, she'd already skimmed though some of it, being the curious little intellect she was. Lifting her gaze back to Nofalo, she cleared her throat and sat up. "So how was Charms?" she queried softly, curious. Eevana lay her wand on the desktop and leaned into the chair, already feeling relaxed with a friend at her side.

Nofalo slid out his Transfiguration materials, wishing he could go outside and play with Eevana, even just sitting under a tree and talking. "Mmm, it wasn't bad," he hummed in response to her query, "I think I'll like it well enough. Professor Barkwith is nice enough, if a bit strange," he laughed. Nofalo noticed that Professor Smethey was already sitting at her desk. As he watched, her eyes suddenly glanced up to meet his, and he reverted his gaze to the grain of the table as his cheeks reddened. "Uhm, how was Herbology?" he asked quickly, hoping Smethey would look elsewhere, as he could still feel her gaze on the pair of them. Nofalo watched as Eevana fiddled with her wand in her lap, and realised he hadn't seen hers yet. He made a mental note to ask her about it later, perhaps at lunch break. That's right, after this they had a little over an hour of break before their next class. Although Nofalo was looking forward to learning magic, he was also looking forward to the weekends when he and Eevana could sit outside and talk, do homework together. Study in the library until the late hours of the evening, with only one another and the candlelight for company. Already his mind was inventing so many scenarios that he wanted to share with her, some mundane and the others more adventurous. It was a thrill, all of it.

The young Ravenclaw smiled at his words, wondering how strange the professor was. But judging by Nofalo's humor, it was a good kind of strange. She fell silent, following his gaze up to the Transfiguration teacher for a moment, but quickly flicking down towards her desk. Then back to her friend when his voice rang out. She grinned broadly. "It was bizarre!" she exclaimed, leaning forwards in her seat. "Do you know that Puffapod seeds burst into bloom upon contact with anything solid?" she asked quickly, then went on before he could reply. "I accidentally dropped one on the floor and it exploded petals everywhere!" Eevana laughed, seemingly giddy at her own folly. "Professor Cauldwell told me to be more careful." She picked up her wand and placed it on her desk, only to have it roll off from her hasty movements. Blushing, she leaned forwards to pick it up and set it on her lap again, a sheepish grin hovering over her face.

He smiled as her as she delved into the shenanigans of her first Herbology class, admiring her enthusiasm. Of course she was exhuberant about Puffapods and all manner of things--she was a Ravenclaw. The more he got to know her, the more it seemed to fit, even though he'd been disdainful when he first crossed paths with her, her shy ways and quiet mannerisms. As Eevana fumbled with her wand, blushing, Nofalo felt his own cheeks redden as he watched her--though he didn't quite know the reason, but he didn't want to dwell on it then. He commented a bit about Professor Barkwith, remembering the way he was welcoming and kind but had a striking sense of humour beneath it all--the kind that was sarcastic but spoken in such a way that the entire class never knew if he was serious or not, so there was always an awkward questioning after his odd ramblings and pointed comments, smiling his large smile all the while. The students would laugh afterwards, on their own, but not to Professor Barkwith's face. He was a gentle man with a gentle heart, they figured, and they didn't want to offend him. But Nofalo hadn't missed the mischievous glint in his eye. It warmed his heart that this man seemed to indulge in his amusing behaviours at least partly for the enjoyment of his students. Though, of course, Nofalo couldn't be sure--it was only his first class with the Professor so far.

The Slytherin boy choked off mid-sentence as Professor Smethey announced the beginning of class. He exchanged a glance with Eevana out of the corner of their eyes as the lecture began, smiling to one another. He was glad to have met her, he thought with a blush. It was pretty nice having a friend.

As class was dismissed, Nofalo finished up the last of his notes. Professor Smethey was quick to reprimand and quite the quick speaker, but Nofalo's opinion of her wasn't quite formulated yet. It was only the first week, but he hoped to get a good feel of the staff here at Hogwarts. He'd heard great things, and strange things, amusing things--so far, it wasn't too bad. The two friends quickly packed up their things, smiling at the prospect of lunch together. They swung their bags over their shoulders, pushed their chairs in, and followed the throng of their chattering classmates out of the Transfiguration room, Professor Smethey watching as her newest group of students left her room for the first time.

"I hope I'm not gonna be too awful at Transfiguration--it's supposed to be one of the harder of the core magics to learn," Nofalo sighed as they walked leisurely along with the steady, light stream of other students on their way to the Great Hall. "Could I perhaps look at your notes a bit? I was writing so fast mine are pretty messy," the Slytherin admitted in embarrassment, rubbing a hand through the hair along the nape of his neck, "The standard equation..." he furrowed his brows in concentration, one hand rising in the air to mock-write out the important variables as he remembered it while they walked, though his pace shortened a bit due to his averted thoughts. Eevana slowed to keep pace with him, even though he didn't notice he'd slowed down at all. "The intended transformation is the wand power by the concentration, over the....v..vicinity? No! No, viciousness by the....uhm...the ehm..." Nofalo made a face, his cheeks puffing out in annoyance as he tried to remember the variables and what they stood for. Eevana's amused, soft voice spoke up beside him, "Bodyweight," she offered, and Nofalo snapped his fingers, beaming at her. "The bodyweight! All by the Z, Unknown Variable!" He exclaimed. He was a bit embarrassed that he hadn't remembered it all, especially since it seemed like Eevana had easily stored it in her mind, but he hoped she wouldn't think less of him for it. He smiled in a nervous way, then quickly flicked his eyes to their path as he skirted around a corner he'd been about to collide with. By this time, they had made it to the Great Hall for lunch, and Nofalo hadn't realised how hungry he was until he saw all the food on the platters, glad that he didn't feel so nervous anymore. Even though he didn't want to admit it, he figured that his joyous and calm state was due to the little blonde Ravenclaw beside him.

She listened eagerly to his words about his Charms class until Professor Smethey called for attention. Eevana grinned once at her friend before her eyes slid to the front of the room, and her focus turned to the subject of Transfiguration. The first ten minutes or so was introductory, though of course she'd expected no less. As usual, her attention was fixed on learning once the professor began to speak about Transfiguration itself. Immediately she picked up her quill and began to take notes, completely zoning into the lecture. The instructor spoke fast and seemed very adamant about things, but Eevana was able to follow along. She found this fascinating, of course. Is this what it meant to be a Ravenclaw? Loving her classes like this? She'd not seen Aku express such attentiveness towards his schoolwork, when he'd had over-the-summer stuff to complete. But then again, each person was different. She knew her brother was smart, clever, good with words and spells. She knew he deserved to be in Ravenclaw. She was quite pleased herself to be in the House her family'd been in. Both of her parents had been Ravenclaw as well. Smiling to herself, she shook some of the thoughts away as Smethey went on about what was legal according to the Ministry of Magic. She sighed softly, a happy huff, and went on scribbling away at the parchment.

Although she'd loved the class, she was sort of glad when the bell toned for break. That meant lunch, and that meant free time to spend with Nofalo. She collected her things in a hurried way, though was quite careful putting them in her bag--especially the precious book. Straightening, she weaved through the desks with her friend until they were out of the classroom and following the crowd of students towards the Great Hall. Eevana didn't mind the lack of conversation for the first few moments, as the noise of the rest of the kids provided entertainment on what she could eavesdrop. Not that she would admit it.

When Nofalo spoke up, she turned her attention to him quickly, eyes glittering. She gave a quick nod at the mention of her notes, feeling a twinge of pride--like she couldn't wait to show them off. She thought herself a pretty good note-taker. And her handwriting was nice, or at least readable. She'd be curious to look at Nofalo's notes though, too, just to see how his mind worked and how he put things down on parchment. She'd not ask yet, though, perhaps she'd peek at them later. She slowed her pace as the boy did, glancing down to the corridor floor for a moment. Tipping her head as her friend struggled with the standard equation, she quirked her lips in a slight smile. "Bodyweight," she put in, to Nofalo's pleasure. She grinned back at him, rather proud of her input, and stepped along at a cheery gait until they reached the Great Hall, where already food lay before them on the shiny platters. Eevana licked her lips like a cat, and with a burst of confidence she snatched up Nofalo's hand and dragged him over to the Ravenclaw table, upon which she sat down and dropped her bag at her side. She'd have to sit at the Slytherin table next time, maybe. They could go back and forth. She leaned forwards and grabbed a small sandwich cut and a pear, setting them on the plate in front of her. The sandwich seemed to be some sort of ham and cheese thing, which looked tasty enough. She bit into the pear and nibbled happily away, glad that her hunger had returned. All because of a boy.

"So what do you have after lunch?" she queried curiously, because she'd forgotten already from when they'd compared schedules. "I forgot," she admitted with a blush. Setting the pear down, she pulled out her wand and rested it on the table beside her plate, finding it comforting to keep it in sight.

They entered the Great Hall, and Nofalo hesitated for a moment, unsure where to go. The Slytherin table, or Ravenclaw? He didn't have much time to debate though, as before he knew it Eevana's had was wrapped around his own and he was being dragged to a table. He blushed and couldn't help but smile as he stumbled after her, her blonde braid waving behind her. Her hand withdrew from his as she sat down, setting her bag down too. Nofalo slid in beside her, flopping his pack on the floor by his feet, still smiling. He found himself smiling an awful lot lately. Nofalo too reached forward to pick out something for lunch, grabbing a slice of what looked like a turkey and lettuce sandwich, as well as a sweet, juicy-looking red apple. He filled his glass with a pitcher of pumpkin juice, taking a drink of the cool liquid. At Eevana's words, he swallowed his bite of sandwich and responded, "Herbology," he set his food back on his plate, and smirked, "And I won't throw my Puffapod on the ground and let it explode like some people do," he teased, sticking his tongue out at her, trying not to smile too wide.

Taking another bite of the pear, the girl lifted her head and glanced once around the hall before her vision refocused on the boy next to her. Her eyes widened at his words, and a playful pout appeared over her face. "I did not throw it on the ground, it jumped out of my hand!" she puffed indignantly, unable to keep a smile off her face. It was too bad they didn't have Herbology together. The hands-on aspect would make it extra fun for the two. She made a face at him. "Pass the pumpkin juice," she demanded mildly, holding out her hand for the jug. When he'd lifted it to her she poured herself a glass and set the container back on the table. She took a sip of the delicious liquid and picked up her wand, turning towards Nofalo again. "What's your wand made of? Here, look at mine. It's cedar with dragon heartstring." she said proudly, lifting the instrument for him to examine.

He smirked mischievously at her reaction, obeying her request by retrieving the jug of crisp, sweet juice. He feigned when she reached for it the first time, pulling it just out of her reach, but the second time--after she made a face and glared at him, to which he answered with a smirk--he let her snatch it away and pour herself a glass of pumpkin juice. At her question, he remembered he'd meant to ask her about it--to be honest he was just waiting for a decent time. He felt like he wanted to talk to her so often and about so much he could hardly choose what to say half the time. When she offered her wand to him, he took it carefully, gingerly, almost lovingly. It was quite a deal shorter than his own, the colour far paler. It fit her, he thought, quite well. He didn't know what it was about it, but it seemed to remind him of her. It felt gentle and delicate, yet energetic and strong. It was strange, but he liked it. He smiled at her as he gently handed it back. "I like yours a lot. It's really--really pretty..." he said with a smile, blushing a bit for some reason. He hid it though, looking down and reaching into the pocket of his robes, fingers brushing his wand as if telling it to behave in front of his friend before pulling it out, opening his palms to offer it to her on the poor pedestal of his scarred hands. He smiled nervously, for some reason feeling like she was scrutinizing him rather than just a wand. As she took it, he shoved his hands in the pockets of his pants, trying to keep from staring at her face to gauge her reaction, but he ended up doing that anyways really. His blue-green gaze flicked back and forth from his own wand--it felt strange to see it in someone else's hands, even though he'd only had it for a few weeks--and his friend's face. It was strange, he felt like it had always been with him. That was something his wand and Eevana had in common, he supposed. The thought made him feel more comfortable, made him smile.

[ i didn't know like what you pictured her wand to look like, so i didn't go into to much detail ^^' and even if i did i probs still wouldn't go into too much detail cuz i feel like it's hard to describe intricate things like wand detail (depending on how detailed the specific wand is i guess) in writing idk idk tbh we should probs draw them or something idk x'D because idk. it would be funs. but yeh <33333flails ]

Eevana watched him take the sleek, pale-colored wand from her hands and gingerly examine it with his scarred hands. She peered in silence as he studied it, finding it strange for someone else to hold her wand. Yet he was careful, and she trusted him, so there was no concern. When she took it back she placed it on the table next to her plate, admiring it herself for a moment before turning back towards Nofalo. "Thanks," she murmured with her own face reddening. As the boy retrieved his own wand and held it out for her to take, she gently picked it up and held it close, her green eyes dancing up and down the length of the wand. Longer than hers, and darker too, with a strange pattern that was both mysterious and comforting. She liked it a lot. It matched him well, too. Smiling, she slid her fingers down it, and then rolled it in her hands before offering it back to the boy. "Yours is lovely...what's the core?" she queried curiously, eager to know what his wand held in its center. She placed her hands back on her lap, forgetting about lunch for the time being as she talked with her friend. It was much more interesting than bothering with her food, though she'd have to eat soon or her hunger would be nagging her the rest of the day. Eevana swung her legs up onto the bench, and sat curled like a cat, a habit of hers. She blinked bright hazel green eyes at Nofalo, smiling faintly.

He started at her words, not realising he'd forgotten to tell her about his wand. "Oh, ehm, it's hawthorn wood, with a core of dragon heartstring too," he said with a smile, taking it back from her careful hands, "Same as yours," he added, slipping his wand back into the thin, long robe pocket, comforted by the feeling of it occasionally hitting his side, the almost nonexistant weight of it on his right side--the kind that stays in the back of his mind but if he didn't know it was there he would forget it ever existed. As Eevana swung her legs up in a more comfortable position for her to sit, Nofalo took the last few bites of his sandwich, reaching for his apple after a drink of pumpkin juice before he asked, "So then, what's your next class after this? We should figure out where we can meet or walk together wherever our paths might intersect," he mentioned, looking forward to even walking to classes with her, or just joining one another in the corridors until they had to part ways to separate lessons. He looked forward to when they would have a routine, an unspoken routine perhaps, where he knew she would always be waiting after an afternoon class for him to come so they could walk together to their next activity; a place he would always sit and read during a break where she might be coming from the other side of the castle to join him for a chat during warm, lazy afternoons. He looked forward to their friendship, and for about the seventh time since they'd recently met, he was glad he had befriended Eevana.

The blonde-haired girl smiled as he spoke, nodding lightly. Both had dragon heartstring cores, perhaps that was another reason they got along so well. She picked at her food thoughtfully, turning away for a moment to sip at her goblet of pumpkin juice. Licking her lips, she nibbled on her own sandwich, staring forwards though distracted by her thoughts and not really paying attention to the Great Hall itself. When Nofalo's voice interrupted her train of thoughts, she eagerly turned back towards him and tipped her head, setting the sandwich down on her plate. "It's Defense Against the Dark Arts," she replied, wrinkling her nose a little when she had to think before speaking. "On the third floor, I think." she added. A bit of a distant walk from Herbology, that was for sure. "And after that I've got Charms!" she finished. She took a bite of her sandwich again and blinked at Nofalo. "Then I swear there's like three hours til dinner. I dunno what I'm gonna do! Maybe we could check out the grounds, or go to the Library?" she quipped, grinning broadly and taking another swig of her juice. Eevana brushed her hand across her mouth and rested her elbow against the table as she looked towards her friend. She wanted to spend as much time as she could with this boy, rather than dwelling alone in the dormitory as she would have done otherwise. She couldn't wait to get to know him more, to really be best friends that relied on each other and everything. The girl used her other hand to flick her braid over her shoulder.

Nofalo smiled at the way her nose crinkled when she tried to remember her class, and nodded eagerly at the prospect of exploring Hogwarts together. "After Herbology, I've got Defense Against the Dark Arts, so maybe we could meet up for a few minutes before we have to go to class..." he murmured, thinking, "But even if we don't have time then, we could definitely explore a bit after classes! I bet the library is huge!" he smiled widely, "And we should go to the Great Lake to see if we can spot the Giant Squid!" he exclaimed, excited. He almost mentioned that he'd heard you could see it swim past from the Slytherin common room window, but he figured he might get in trouble if the Slytherin upperclassmen found out he'd tattled to a Ravenclaw girl about their common room. Besides, if it did happen to swim by the window when he was in the common room, he didn't want to look at it. Not yet. He wanted to see it with Eevana the first time. He finished his apple, with them chatting on and off about various things, such as all the different statues and suits of armour in the castle, and how he could swear he'd seen one move earlier. He delved into mention of Charms class, and how they'd started learning about a spell just before class ended, and next class they were supposed to start incantations and maybe even wand gestures. He knew she would be excited about it like he was. "It was some sort of levitation spell apparently," he recalled, excited to practise it. Maybe they would be able to use it to pass notes or something.

Eevana bobbed her head excitedly. "Yay!" she exclaimed, popping the last of her sandwich in her mouth. She definitely wanted to see the Giant Squid, that was for sure. She tapped her wand against the table and sipped her juice again, almost choking on the drink in her excitement. By the time she'd finished her meal, there was still a short while before her next class, and she was just happy to sit here talking to Nofalo. Glancing over to him as he started talking about Charms, she rested her arms on the table and put her head down, tilting it so she was facing the boy still, eyes wide with curiosity. "Ooh," she murmured at the mention of levitation. "I can't wait for Charms," she went on. Turning her head slightly, she spotted students heading out of the Hall. It was probably nearly time for the third class of the day. She straightened up and lifted her arms above her head in a stretch. Collecting her bag, she slid her legs off the bench and grabbed her wand. She looped the shoulder bag over her head and blinked at her friend before stepping to follow the throng of students.

Nofalo was glad she seemed excited, and they finished their lunch shortly. After a while, students began trickling out of the Great Hall, moseying to milk all the time chatting with their friends that they could. Now that was something Nofalo understood. He stood up as Eevana did, lifting the strap of his bag over his head to his opposite shoulder, comfortably hanging his bag across his body. He stepped over the bench, joining Eevana to walk out of the Great Hall and make their way to the next class. While Eevana was looking at him as he chatted aimlessly, asking her specifically which greenhouse to go to for Herbology, he saw a ghost floating uncaringly towards them. He knew from experience that it wasn't exactly pleasant to accidentally walk through a ghost, so he grabbed her hand he pulled her towards him, sidestepping himself a bit so they were out of the way. The ghost didn't even acknowledge them as it passed, and they watched as it floated by and passed through a wall behind them, their smiles amused and breathless. Nofalo moved his eyes back to Eevana, and with a sudden look down at their still-intertwined hands and an even more sudden blush, he stepped back and snatched his hand away, stuffing it in his pants pocket. "S-sorry, I just--it's a really weird feeling walking through ghosts and it's not really pleasant so--have you ever done it before? When I was really little, the few times I'd seen ghosts, I used to be terrified of walking through them 'cause the feeling scared me," he rambled with a nervous laugh, swiftly continuing on their path. It wouldn't be long until they had to separate, as he'd have to leave the castle to get to the greenhouses outdoors while she would head upstairs for Defense Against the Dark Arts. He already wanted to review his notes for his first two classes, and maybe read ahead a bit in the Charms book to be more prepared for the levitation spell they were going to learn, but he was looking forward to seeing his friend before dinner. It had been a fun day, and even though it was only half-way over, it felt like it had gone so fast but at the same time felt so long and full. It was nice, though. Quite nice.

She had a bounce in her step as they left the Great Hall, for no more reason than her good mood. She had been just about to inform Nofalo what greenhouse the first-years were to go to when she was suddenly tugged to the side by the boy. Stumbling, she spun around and spotted a ghost floating past, looking as though it hardly cared where it was going. She blinked, puffing, and turned back to her friend, only to find their hands still clutched. Once Nofalo had let go, she nervously twined her fingers together, her own face reddening. She dropped her gaze for a moment and adjusted the strap of her bag as he spoke, then glanced across the corridor. Realizing he'd asked her a question, she made a hasty response. "Oh yes, I have," she murmured, walking alongside him as the two continued off to their classes. It wasn't long before they had to separate, and Eevana gave a little wave as she turned to head up the stairs. She peered back once, watching until the boy vanished from view, then scurried up the steps and into the hallway, trotting along. She pulled out her schedule to check which classroom, and skipped along until she found the right one, upon which she sidled inside and plopped down in one of the desks. There were a few other students, a Ravenclaw and two Gryffindors, already there, as well as Professor Elwood. Eevana tucked her feet onto the chair and placed her wand on the desk. She pulled out her book, parchment, and quill to await the beginning of class, wishing they had this block with Slytherins.

By the time the bell toned, Eevana had been completely sucked into the education, scribbling away the last few words on her notes before picking up her stuff. She'd discovered that Professor Elwood was not the most interesting of teachers, nor was he all too forgiving. Already he'd assigned homework. An essay on the creation of the Knockback Jinx, to most of the class's displeasure. Eevana didn't mind writing, although she did think it could have been a little more interesting. Packing up her things, she stood and strode out of the classroom, swinging her braid over her back. She knew Nofalo had Defense Against the Dark Arts next, so he would be coming this way. She had fifteen minutes before she had to find Charms, so that'd be enough, right? She scooted past a strange-looking statue and rocked back and forth on her feet, watching the crowd patter past.

He parted from the his friend, making his way out of the great oak doors of Hogwarts Castle to the courtyard. He spotted a few other First-Years walking away on a path to the left, so Nofalo stepped in behind them and followed the small group of chattering Huffepuffs to the greenhouses. They entered the second one, and Nofalo slid in along the stools around a large center table with strange egg-shaped pods pale in colour with darker orangeish spots on them. Puffapods. He picked an empty chair a few from the end, flipping his legs around and sliding his backpack onto the floor by his dangling feet that didn't quite reach the floor. The place smelled of earth and plantlife, a calming scent that gave him a nice grounded feeling. Professor Cauldwell stood at the far end of the table, a stout woman with hair the colour of topsoil and messy enough to match. As the chairs filled, she politely called for attention, beginning the lesson, voice raspy by gentle.

Nofalo hastily stuffed his things in his pack, brushing puffapod petals off of his robes and careful not to knock of his new puffapod from the table as his elbow came close to it. Melisandre Northrop had thrown her puffapod at Nofalo when Professor Cauldwell wasn't looking, causing him to drop his own as well and making it look like he'd done it all on purpose. He'd gained a disapproving glare and a few harsh words. But all that was forgotten now, as the young boy nearly sprinted out of the greenhouse, raced through the great doors, and hurried up the steps two at a time to get to the third floor where Defense Against the Dark Arts was held. He was breathing hard by the end of it, but a smile was on his face as he spotted Eevana hovering by an odd statue, glancing around for him. He weaved between the occasional student walking in the corridor and came up to her, breathlessly greeting, "Hi," swallowing to relieve his dry throat. "So is Defense Against the Dark Arts any fun? Do we get to learn anything cool yet?" he was quite excited for Defense Against the Dark Arts, probably the class he was most looking forward to--that, and maybe Potions, but his Potions block wasn't until Friday. At least he had it with the Ravenclaws, with Eevana.

When at last she spotted him, weaving towards her through the groups of students filing past, she straightened and grinned broadly, flicking her braid over her shoulder. "Hi," she replied, shifting weight back and forth on small feet. At his question she crinkled up her nose, and narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. She was a bit hesitant to say, as she was afraid of disappointing Nofalo. The class hadn't been that great, in her opinion. It had lacked the sort of thrill, to call it, that her Transfiguration class had held. "Well, it's...alright," she wheedled, adjusting her shoulder strap. "To be honest, it was duller than I was expecting. We've got an essay already for homework, due next class! Which is...tomorrow!" she gasped, suddenly going pale. "I'd better go. See you at break!" With a quick wave, Eevana scurried past him, heart thudding. Charms..where was the Charms Corridor? She scampered up a flight of stairs and bounded through the hallway. After a few minutes she skidded to a halt outside the classroom, panting. She scooted inside just as the bell tolled, and hastily made her way over to an empty seat, where she collapsed, trying to slow her breathing. The professor wasn't paying any attention, so she leaned back and pulled out her notes and wand, eager to learn.

When Professor Barkwith finished speaking, the class scribbled the last of their notes and began shuffling their stuff away. Eevana stared at her parchment for a moment, making sure she'd gotten it all down, then stuffed her notes neatly in her bag. The bell chimed for the end of class, and she happily made her way out into the corridor, thinking that Charms would be a fun one. Barkwith was friendly and amusing. As she walked down the hall, though, her mind pushed away thoughts of the classes and focused on her friend. Sliding to a halt, she rubbed her nose with a finger and wondered where she was to meet Nofalo. Perhaps she'd just head towards the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, and they'd meet somewhere in the middle.

Nofalo groaned at the mention of a whole essay to do already, and quickly answered with a farewell as his friend dashed off down the corridor to her next class. The Slytherin boy trotted into the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, flopping down into an empty seat and taking out his quill and ink, note parchment, wand, and textbook. Even though he was a bit disappointed based on Eevana's description of the class, he still looked forward to this block. He eagerly waited for the class to start, face impassive but mind racing in excitement.

Professor Elwood had been...well, Nofalo thought he liked him, even though he seemed a bit curt and strict. The young boy packed his things away, hoisting his bag upon his shoulder and making a mental note to work on his essay soon, and not spend the entire afternoon and evening goofing off with Eevana. Nofalo wasn't sure whether to wait by the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, or try to meet her halfway towards the Charms room. He didn't see her yet, scanning the crowds of students excited to have several hours of break. Finally they would be able to start understanding the castle, exploring. The library, and the grounds, perhaps even trying to spot the Giant Squid in the Great Lake. If they had time he wanted to explore the corridors too, to get to know the ins and outs of the magnificent place. Nofalo fiddled with the strap of his bag, fidgeting. The morning had felt so rushed, with excitement and nervousness to find classes on time, so it felt a bit strange to have so much time now. It was a nice break-up of the daily routine, though. He was warmed by the loud, happy chattering in the corridor, the smiling faces of his schoolmates and the occasional watchful but caring gazes of a teacher as they passed. Hogwarts was a good place, a good place indeed.

Eevana trotted down a flight of stairs, nearly tripping on the bottom one. She made her way in the direction of the Great Hall, deciding that seemed like a good point to meet up. If she couldn't find Nofalo there, she'd head up to the DADA classroom. She weaved through a gang of students and stood on tiptoes to peer above the crowd, which sadly didn't work well. Snorting softly, she stepped forwards, heading towards the entrance of the Hall itself. It was only a few moments before she spotted the boy's dark hair, green emblem flashing on the front of his robes. She ducked behind a taller student and trotted around, glancing over towards Nofalo again. He wasn't facing her, so she crept over and tapped him on the shoulder with a finger. "Hi!" she greeted softly, hopping around so she could face him, her bag swinging against her thighs. She brandished her wand at his nose, a grin painted over her face. "Ready to explore?" she asked, resembling a happy puppy.
