newcomers and adventures [w/ WWB] **ENDED**

Elodi stopped just before the door to her home. She stepped back, her spine against the wall, and looked nervously to Skallaq. "You...should probably tell her. She trusts you," the calico murmured, and she opened the door slowly and quietly. She waited back, letting the tom pass before her.

"Si, pequena," Elodi smiled, stepping forward now to rest her paw on Temna's shoulder, "come with us." And so, the three stepped back down the stairs, descended via lift, and began padding across the rooftops of San Ricardo, towards the Glitter Box. Though the going was slower with a kit, but it was not a quiet trek--the whole way, Temna chittered questions about her new mother, to which Elodi answered to the best of her ability, but left many to: "You will just have to wait and see, gatita."
It was near midday when they reached the Glitter Box. Elodi glanced behind her at Temna, who had Skallaq standing protectively close to her, before leading the way into the building. The place was much more crowded now that the day had progressed, and most cats were meeting there early because of the Dance Fight--it was Tuesday once again. Bouncy Spanish music sounded through the air, and Temna was gazing around with wide, happy eyes. Elodi reached behind her and slipped her paw into Skallaq's, who had a firm hold on Temna, and the calico quickly escorted the her friends by weaving through the milling crowd, working her way to where to the area where she knew Bela would be. When the pretty she-cat spotted them, her face lit up and she hurried from behind the bar, trotting to a back room and beckoning to them before swiping the curtain behind her. Elodi, still grasping Skallaq's paw, followed Bela. Once they were inside, Temna stepped away from Skallaq to take a cautious advance in the direction of Bela's gentle form. The older she-cat was purring audibly, gazing at Temna with the love only mothers could show their kits. Elodi smiled to herself, knowing her decision was well-placed. She shared a happy glance with Skallaq, and it was then that Elodi's sapphire eyes fell to their paws--still clasped together. With a slight blush and a suggestive glance from under her eyelashes at Skallaq, Elodi gently squeezed his paw before slipping hers away. Then, she promptly returned her attention to Bela and Temna. "So, Bela, is everything to your liking? And you, Temna?"
The cream and orange she-cat gazed at Elodi with shining eyes, "Of course, amiga! She is beautiful, and so kind..." Bela returned her gaze to little Temna, as the kit blinked warmly at her new mother before turning her gaze back to Elodi and Skallaq.

Elodi smiled at Temna's ecstatic attitude, and she nodded to Bela, "Gracias, amiga. I'm sure I'm speaking for both of us," Elodi glanced at Skallaq with a smile, "when I say we shall miss you, gatita. Though we wish you both the best of luck. And I'm sure we shall see each other around San Ricardo! Hasta luego!" The calico began walking away, turning to wave back at them as she stepped back into the main area of the Giltter Box. She glanced behind her once, her eyes dropping to where Skallaq had gone to all fours. With a last slight grin, Elodi flicked her tail and began weaving through the crowd. She had an urge to grab Skallaq's paw again, knowing he wasn't as comfortable around so many cats--let alone strangers--but she obviously could not because his forepaws were occupied. Still with a slight smirk, the calico ducked around groups of laughing cats and flicked her ears as she got used to the din of the Glitter Box on a Tuesday night, the Dance Fight preparations far under way.

"Si, mi amigo! Vamos!" Elodi smiled and began racing through the narrow streets, taking the abrupt turns with ease. She knew the route as well as she knew her own house. She glanced back several times at Skallaq, gliggling every once in a while. They were headed to the stables, where she would buy some horses for their journey. The ride was far, and she had no wish to traverse it on paw.

Elodi slowed to a trot, then a walk as they turned the corner of a building and came within sight of the horse stables. The stables could just barely be seen past the archway to the entrance of San Ricardo, the building still within a safe distance from the town's walls. There were only about two horses grazing in the small fenced-in pasture, as she knew most were inside the barn eating their usual midday snack. Elodi glanced back and Skallaq, and nodded towards the stables as she set off towards them at a trot. However, she stopped, remembering something, "Do you need anything back at my house?"

"Good. Let's go, then!" Elodi hurried to the stable, spoke quickly to the stablehand--and young boy of no more than fourteen--then led Skallaq into the pasture. She gestured around, saying, "Your choice," before going off to search through the small herd herself, for her steed.

Elodi sighed as she stood still, forepaws on her hips, searching for the proper steed. Before long, she spied an attractive horse--a young palomino mare. Her coat was a pale golden colour, but as Elodi stepped closer she noticed the horse's fur was riddled with just hints of small, lighter spots. Her mane and tail were a long, beautiful creamy white colour--the mane flowed over an inch below her neck and the forelock split to either side of her head, reaching slightly past the bones of her jaw. Her eyes twinkling with delight, Elodi approached the mare. The beautiful beast turned her head, ears flicking about, until her amazing eyes rested upon the small cat. Elodi's smile graced her face as she laid eyes on the wondrous mare. Her left eye was half brown, half blue, while the right was blue with brown sections intruding in several places. The mare tossed her head gently, her mane flicking about, and Elodi reached to stroke her soft muzzle. The thick white blaze on the mare's face extended from beneath her forelock all the way to her nose, meeting a little pink triangle where the fur began thinning to mingle with the black skin of her snout. The horse nickered softly at Elodi, regarding her with her pretty eyes. The cat stepped around the side of the horse, her paw brushing over the mare's flank, before she lept onto the young horse's back. She trailed her paw over the horses soft fur, running her digits through the long mane. She took a gentle fistful of the creamy white mane, and pulled lightly to the right. The mare responded in kind, turning with Elodi's direction. She urged the mare onwards, and soon found Skallaq waiting beside a very pretty appaloosa mare. As Elodi slid off her steed, the palomino swung her head to watch her strange new rider. Elodi approached Skallaq, asking, "She's the one you want?" indicating the appaloosa. She was glad they had decided quickly--now they had only to pay the stablehand, and set off.

"Si, mi amigo. ¡Vámonos!" Elodi called, letting out a wide smile as her pony snorted in anticipation at her words. They rode out of the pasture, heading towards the open road out of San Ricardo. After a few minutes, they reached a section where the road forked off in several directions, and they took the route toward Aragon. They talked little, but Elodi continued to stroke her pony and speak to it lightly, creating a relationship with her. She found out her name was Amiosa, coming from the Spanish words for 'goddess' and 'friendship'. Elodi and Amiosa quickly deveolped a close friendship, and she knew Amiosa would stay with her to the end. Amiosa was an extremely kind and gentle horse, but she had a fire in her that Elodi knew would protect them both. Elodi glanced over to Skallaq, feeling a wave of emotion wash over her. Before now, she'd always done journeys on her own. She usually hadn't even brought a horse, preferring to be alone. But now, with Amiosa and with Skallaq, she felt a sort of companionship and shared goal that made her feel warm and strong, and she knew it would guide her through this mission, if not the rest of her life.

Elodi made idle chat as they ate, observing Skallaq. He seemed a bit unhappy with their meal of dried rations--in all honesty, she wasn't thrilled either. There didn't seem to be anything living nearby that would serve as suitable prey, but then again, there was no harm in looking. "What do you say we go looking for something a bit more...tasteful, hmm?" she asked with a wink, stuffing pieces of meat back in her bag.

Elodi licked her lips one final time before looking about the area, "Sí, they'll look after them for us," she affirmed, then pointed towards a clump of bushes several cat-lengths away, "We could try by those bushes there, maybe something's made a home in those branches." The cats crept forward silently, and soon they both caught the signals of a family of mice living in a burrow under the roots of one of the bushes. Elodi allowed Skallaq to venture first, as she picked up movement of one of the mice in a bush to the left. She crouched, inching her way closer, feeling at one with her nature as she hunted like her ancestors had. With a flick of her ears she pounced, squishing a young mouse to the ground as it squeaked in terror. She finished it off quickly, then stood proudly with her kill hanging limp in her jaws, waiting to see how Skallaq had faired.
