Her initial thought on the whole place was busy. There were so many people! It was hard not to press close to her brother and stumble along, wishing desperately to go back home where it was quiet and peaceful. But she held her head high and walked straight, not leaning in to her sibling nor clutching his hand. As they headed now towards Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, she found her eyes darting nervously around. It was nearly their last stop--she'd been promised an owl, for which she was quite excited for. Eevana walked after her father, next to her brother, as they slipped inside the busy shop. Numerous students milled about, from first-years like her buying new robes to fifth-years replacing old ones. She flexed her fingers nervously and fiddled with the dark green hoodie she wore. Her father directed her to the lady in charge--no longer Madam Malkin, for she was passed now, but another woman whose name did not stand out in importance to Eevana. There was already a long line of people, and the girl ended up being roughly pushed aside to the walls where she found herself grabbing at a hanging robe to keep her balance. "Wait over there!" came the sharp voice of the witch, instructing a number of first-years including Eevana to keep aside. The blonde-going-to-brown-haired girl wrapped her arms around herself and backed up. She felt herself bump lightly into something, and turned about to face a boy with brown hair and a serious expression. Eevana's own face was composed, and she merely appeared disinterested as she stared at him for a moment.

He'd been waiting in this stuffy robes shop for over half an hour, standing in an unceremonious half-line half-clump near a few other young children like himself, most likely first-years as well. It hadn't taken long for a good portion of the group to befriend one another and begin talking animatedly about the school times to come. Nofalo separated himself from the main bunch as well as he could, taking a few steps towards the corner. People kept coming in through the doors, much faster than any kid was leaving newly-robed to finish their school shopping. He wasn't really angry at the situation--well okay, maybe he was. It wasn't so much the amount of people in the room (though that was certainly irritating), it was more the type of people. Kids, his age. Kids who would want to talk to him and chatter about school, about Houses, about Quidditch, about classes, about everything. At first, a few of the children would try to engage him. He would answer a few of the more gentle questions, until the questions became more prying. Had he ever ridden a broom, what House did he think he'd be sorted into, did he live in a wizarding family, had he gotten his wand,
"Oh look at mine I got Ash! It's a phoenix feather, that's the rarest one there is you know. That's what my dad told me."
"That's not true! My cousin who goes to Beauxbatons told me she got some sort of mermaid hair in her wand. That's rare."
"What about me, I've got Birch. It's way prettier than your wand."
"She's right you know, mine--"
"No, don't be silly, the best one would be--"

Nofalo quickly dropped out of the conversation, slipping away unnoticed as he usually did. He had gotten his wand a little bit earlier in the day--a dark hawthorn wand, that had raised ornate carvings on the handle, almost a but rough or painful to hold but not exactly uncomfortable, at least not to Nofalo. Ollivander had told him, as he reverentially handed the young boy the box, it held a dragon heartstring core inside. They say the wand chooses the wizard, it reflects some part about the wizard who wields it, and so he was quite proud of it, to be honest--one of the few things about himself that he was proud of. Reaching up, Nofalo gingerly touched the cut that ran across his lips to his chin, the scrape below his left eye, the large bruise on his forearm hidden by the material of his off-white button-up. Trophies from his last transformation. The last day of the full moon had only been two days ago, but he was glad he wouldn't have to deal with it for the first few weeks of school. He was musing over his predicament, mixed with the excitement of finally going to Hogwarts, when a young girl a good bit shorter than he bumped into him, backing in towards the discarded first-year clump. She had blonde hair that reached far down her back, her small arms wrapped around herself protectively. She glanced up at him with greenish-golden eyes, staring at him. He looked back at her for just a moment before the side of his nose twitched slightly, once, in almost a quick look of disgust before he his eyes flicked down to the ground, up to her once more, then he turned his head slightly and looked away. His posture stayed it's usual straight and proper, his arms loosely but confidently at his sides. His stature always put on an air of confidence and strength, something he inwardly felt he lacked now, but then again his stance was one of the things his father had made sure met his standards even when Nofalo was a young child. He shrugged his shoulders slightly, shifting his dark unbuttoned blazer. Being fitted for his robes couldn't come soon enough.

[nuuu its fine!! <3 also, for Nofalo's wand's appearance (the handle of it at least), it's kind of a cross between snape's/sirius's wand, fred's wand, and neville's wand if that makes any sense xP but it's dark in colour like blackish. i honestly just didn't feel like writing that much in the way of description for it >.>']

She watched until the boy turned away, and the slightest hint of arrogance made her eyes narrow in the tiniest way. She took a step back and tilted her head, gaze sweeping over the chattering crowd, not at all wanting to join in. She could feel her heart beating rapidly, and she wondered how she'd gotten so far from her brother and father. The heads of the other children were too tall for her to see over, and she bit her tongue, agitated. Eevana tucked her hands back in the pocket of her hoodie and twisted her fingers together. It was all so exciting, yet so frightening as well. She couldn't wait to simply depart and get back to the safety of home. Yet this was the moment, a turning point in her life. She'd always fantasized about Hogwarts. Ever since her brother had gone. He'd always brought home the oddest tales and strangest things. She'd stolen his books too, as soon as she could read more complicated passages, and of course had lavished over his owl, a beautiful spotted owl called Kaleen. And soon she'd have her own, too! The thought made her rock back on her heels a moment before she straightened politely.

Eevana scooted to the side as a gaggle of first-years pushed past her, making her stumble to the side with a sharp intake of breath. "--and did you see the new Gobstones set he got? So many colours!"
"I can't believe how many games there were!"
Frowning ever so slightly, Eevana turned away, lifting her teal gaze up and over, trying to search out shapes--anything resembling her father or Aku. The woman in charge was approaching again, and the room cleared a little as a batch of students wandered out, clutching bags of new robes. Eevana felt herself shuffled forwards, and then suddenly she was in a line, oddly enough next to the tall boy she'd bumped into.

[mmkay. and should we skip now to the food place?]

[yas that'll be fine!]

Nofalo lost himself in his thoughts until they were finally formed into a rough line in preparation to be fitted for robes. He promptly stepped up every time the line moved forward. Eventually, it was his turn to be fitted, and he swiftly obeyed all the instructions from the woman as she pinned his robes to fit him properly. He was mildly worried that she would be doing a haphazard job since she was most likely stressed from the sheer number of people milling about her establishment today. Judging by her greying hair sticking up strangely from her half-put up bun, she was doing all she could to cater everyone before she was filed with complaints from busy parents. But, nevertheless, Nofalo found himself satisfied enough with the end product that he didn't bother asking for corrections. She probably had enough on her mind as it was without some boy chiding her on her own work. He pushed the coins on the counter and his robes were quickly stuffed into his arms, and so he continued on his way outside to find his father. As he left, he noticed that girl who had bumped into him before was just finishing up her fittings, getting the last pin by the bottom seam of her robes. He turned away, pushing through the heavy wooden door.

He found his father waiting with his usual scowl by the hip-high rock wall that separated two sections of the street. His mother had had some troubles with the family Gringotts account so she had stayed behind to figure things out while Xirtan took his son to finish the school shopping they had yet to do. Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions was their last stop--at least, before lunch. Nofalo walked over to his father and with a few curt words they went on their way to a nearby food court of sorts. It was quite busy, but the day before the train leaves for Hogwarts is always one of the busiest days of the year for Diagon Alley.

His father ate quickly, delicately. Nofalo picked at his food, not having much of an appetite. Not that he ever did. Especially soon after transformations. Usually the first week or so after was kind of touch-and-go. He had chosen not to partake in the wolfsbane potions this time, so he would not have the horrid aftereffects too strongly since he knew they would have to go shopping soon after the full moon. So he had chained himself up in the basement, which his father sealed with a strong charm and a padlock as always. Even without the potions, he was usually a bit down after transformations. He hoped that would go away as he aged, as he had more experience with it. In the back of his mind he thought he'd already had far too much experience with it for his comfort level, but he had known for a while now that he best accept it and move on the best he could--there was no known way to cure lycanthropy once a victim had been bitten. He might as well get used to it.
Nofalo broke out of his thoughts when his father suddenly came back after having thrown the rest of his meal away.
"I am going to check on your mother. Wait here."
And with that, Xirtan walked away, leaving Nofalo alone at the table with their shopping items and his thoughts. Nofalo watched his father walk away, his tall frame towering over most of the other people in the Alley. He had very dark brown hair and sharp golden eyes that never seemed to soften. With a sigh, Nofalo tapped his fingernail on the table, lowering his head to the rough wooden surface, wishing he were somewhere or someone else for maybe the two-hundred-and-sixty-fifth time in his life. After a few moments, he raised his head again with another sigh and withdrew his tattered copy of A Children's Anthology of Monsters. He wanted to read his new textbooks, but for those would prefer a quiet environment so he could focus--and Diagon Alley was anything but calm and quiet. So instead, he settled for his well-read anthology and flipped through to his favourite stories.

It was difficult to hold still while being fitted, for the number of other eyes sweeping across her and the very fact that she was more or less the center of attention made her fidget uncomfortably. It was a relief to take off, find her father and pay for the new robes, then scurry out of the cramped building. However, the street of Diagon Alley itself was hardly any less full. Loud bangs and yelling of children accompanied the patter of feet across the cobbled ground. Eevana sighed rather heavily, and she felt Aku gently nudge her shoulder. Glancing up at him, she blinked once, then moved forwards after their father.

"Shall we stop for food before getting you your owl?" Her dad asked.
She nodded, while Aku provided a vocal 'yes', and two continued after their father towards the indicated food court, also crawling with crowds. They grabbed an easy lunch, and searched out a table. Aku followed their father ahead, while Eevana lingered back, the bookstore distracting her again. She stared at it then turned about and realized she'd lost sight of her family. Initially she had a panic moment, but then relaxed. Clutching the drink she'd ordered--too excited and nervous to be really hungry--she paced forwards, glancing around to catch sight of Aku or her father.

As she walked through the maze of tables she spotted a familiar book being read by some child. A Children's Anthology of Monsters. Her eyes widened in satisfaction, and she instinctively moved over, forgetting a moment where she was. She scuffed her feet as she paused next to the table, peering at the book. She couldn't see whomever it was reading it, for he was behind the anthology. Eevana then noticed the table was empty except for the reader. She took a shaky breath before speaking. "That's one of my favorite books. M-may I sit here?" she queried nervously in her quiet tone, shifting her weight from one foot to the other.

Nofalo didn't look up right away when he heard the small voice, instead finishing the passage he was on before flicking his gaze from the printed word to the young girl's face. He blinked once, noticing that it seemed to be the same girl who he had seen in Madam Malkin's. In response to her question, he gave a small nod towards the other seats of his table, muttering, "Mine too," He watched as she sat down. He hadn't ever really talked much to other people, especially kids his age. It shouldn't do too much harm, at least talking to her a little...right? I mean she wasn't going to find out, she wasn't going to lunge across the table and start beating him and screaming at him like so many of his nightmares as a snout sprouted in the middle of his face and fear clouded his animalistic eyes. No, she was a quiet girl as well, she probably wouldn't ask too many questions, and those that she did ask he could waive and make up a story to if he had to--he had plenty of practise lying about things such as that. Blinking his dark greenish-blue eyes, he drew in a breath through his nose before opening his mouth to speak, "Are you going to Hogwarts?" She looked about his age--perhaps she was a first-year as well. They may even be put in the same House. He wasn't sure he wanted to be in her House or not. She might hang around him too much. She sure did seem to lack self-confidence and credibility, at least he thought so, judging by the way she shyly tugged at the end of her green hoodie and how soft her voice was, especially when she stammered. Then again, he had no idea what House he himself would be sorted into, though he'd tried not to dwell on it too much because there wasn't much he could do to change it. It often felt like there wasn't much he could do to change anything.

[CHANGE: I've edited Nofalo's personality a bit, it's in his character bio. I've made him a bit ruder and a bit more unfriendly, especially as a younger kid (like maybe through 3rd or 4th year or so? idk) so yeah x3 i apologise in advance for his rudeness D:  Ox
EDIT: i also edited his 'notes' area a little, just to say that he generally does NOT take the wolfsbane potions (when he's a kid; as an older young man he takes them more often) because the affects on children have not been as well-studied and because of the aftereffects of the potion and his mother worries as usual about extensive consumption of magical potions with dangerous ingredients and blah]

She chewed on her tongue a little and dropped forwards, placing one knee on the bench and then the other so she sat facing him. She decided to keep on her knees rather than kick out her legs, mostly due to the fact that she'd be a good deal shorter than him, and also because she felt safer when tucked close in on herself. She rested her arm on the table, clinking the drink cup down lightly. She was glad of his response, even if it was short and muffled, and flicked her eyes over him once more. Eevana brought the cup closer and played a little with the rim but didn't drink. She adjusted herself a little, feeling the silence that had descended was the tiniest bit awkward, only because the two were still gazing at each other's general direction. She lowered her eyes to the table, picking out neat little patterns in the woodwork. The boy's voice startled her out of her slight drift-off but she didn't react other than to lift her head to return the teal gaze to his face. Hogwarts. Such an easy question. She nodded quickly, a slight glow flickering in her estuary ocean colored eyes. Even the name sent a quiver of excitement flitting down her back. She held herself composed, easy enough, and took her hands off the drink to lace them neatly in front of her on the table. "Y-you are too, then?" she added, to confirm. Though it would seem next to obvious considering he'd asked the question. She straightened, coolly watching him. Being brave, she told herself. It was just a kid.

He breathed out through his nose a bit in slight exasperation before raising a thin, dark eyebrow by a millimeter and murmuring a curt, "Obviously." He lowered his gaze back to his book to continue his reading, but after a few attempts at rereading the same couple sentences multiple times, found himself rather unable to focus much on the words and pictures before him. He didn't know what to say to her. It was strange. He wanted to talk, part of him did at least, but the other part had no idea what to say without sounding foolish. His deductions about her self-confidence were almost certainly correct, at least, and that made him feel just a bit surer of himself. Giving up on his anthology, he let the book drop open spine-down on the wooden table with a dull clunk. He looked her up and down once more. Before he could really think about it, he began speaking again, "So...erm..." he felt his cheeks redden slightly and one of his hands reached back to run nervously through his hair, "Have you gotten your wand yet then?" he questioned, ending up sounding a bit sharper than he'd intended. He forced his hand down again, loosely lacing his long fingers together. The corner of his nose twitched minimally, hoping for some odd reason that she wouldn't be too offended, though his face remained passive and perhaps just a little hostile. As usual.

Eevana clenched her fingers tighter at the reply, sharp and with a hint of what she thought might be disdain. Well, be that way, she thought, allowing her gaze to slide away from him to dart around the busy food court. She found it to be even less interesting, so she returned her eyes to the table instead. The boy had gone back to his book, and she was a little relieved to have his attention off her. She wondered if her father and brother were looking for her, or if they'd just sat down to eat, knowing they'd catch up with her later. She did have a habit of separating from her kin to wander on her lonesome. Even as a very young child--which of course had scared her father to no end. But they'd gotten used to it now, and she was old enough that it wasn't a problem really. Well, in her opinion.

The young male across the table lowered his book, drawing her attention once again. He seemed almost unsteady this time, she noted, watching him run his hand through his dark brown hair. Eevana did however perk up a little at the question, and her hand dropped down to the single bag she'd brought along--her father had the rest of the supplies. But she'd kept this one, for it held the most exciting new object--her wand. "I have." she answered, remembering to respond. She had a weird urge to bring it out, to show off, but it was quickly stifled, and she clasped her hand over the slim box, merely resting it there. "What about you?" she murmured softly, blinking.

He waited after her initial reply, hoping she would elaborate and perhaps tell what kind of wand had chosen her, but when a question came instead, he straightened a bit and blinked a few times before responding, "Yes, yes of course." There he let it drop. If she hadn't felt the need to describe her wand, then he certainly wouldn't be the first to tell of his. His gaze fell to the thick wooden table again, hoping she would rekindle conversation so as to at least stall the awkwardness that would surely descend upon them with too much silence between them, even with the atmosphere so lively. It was a warm but slightly breezy day--a beautiful day, if he'd ever seen one. He hoped that at least the first week or so in Hogwarts would bring similar fair weather, to make the experience that much more enjoyable.

[If you WANT her to say anything, but don't know what to have her say, you could have her mention the Houses or maybe talk about Quidditch or something, or owls/cats/toads or maybe even the monster stories book or whatever.  just some ideas~ if you don't want her to talk that's your choice as well though!]

She nodded slowly after he replied, and pressed her fingernails to the solid surface of the table. She shifted, adjusting her legs to the side a little so they wouldn't become numb. As the conversation dwindled and a slightly awkward silence grew up Eevana lowered her gaze, wondering if she perhaps should just get up and try to find her father and brother. They'd be finishing up soon, she supposed. But she also didn't want to just rudely walk off. Gathering what little courage she possessed, she lifted her head, teal gaze searching over the boy's face. "W-what House do you hope to be in?" she asked quietly, linking her hands back together and taking in a deep breath.

He looked up as she spoke, taking a moment to think about his answer. Her choice of words made it more difficult, in a way. Hope....hope. He opened his mouth, eyes watching the sky, "I don't know if I really prefer any particular House to the others. Though I don't think I would fit in Hufflepuff, at least not as much compared to the other Houses," he huffed slightly in amusement, the corner of his mouth turning up ever so slightly, "So I guess I would have to say one of the other three. I've tried not to think about it too much, so I won't get my hopes up and then be disappointed." Nofalo finished, choosing not to elaborate further, well aware he hadn't really answered her question. In all honesty, he didn't know what he hoped to be sorted into. He was clever enough, and he supposed there was some bravery in suffering through his traumatic childhood of lycanthropy--if you could call that bravery and not just bad luck. He was cunning and witty as well, at times, but he didn't have ambitions for much else besides getting through each full moon without mauling someone. Actually...the more he thought about it, the more Nofalo realised he did have ambitions--ambitions of knowledge, and that was one of the main reasons he was so excited to go to Hogwarts, because there would be so much to learn. He never admitted it, barely even to himself, but he also had ambitions of perhaps having a nice, comfortable family of his own one day. He wanted a normal life, as normal a wizarding life as a werewolf could get. He wanted to find the right people, but he was too scared to try. He wanted to overcome his fears, but was scared of rejection if he did. Nofalo had plenty of ambitions, but they were blocked by his sickly life shrouded in fear.

Eevana listened politely, her fingers still laced together. Yes, she supposed Hufflepuff would be a less interesting one, considering all she'd heard about it. She told herself she didn't really care, but the proud part of her was quite against being selected for that House. To her, Ravenclaw seemed the most suitable one for her. She wasn't courageous in any way really, nor was she ambitious. At least, not much. And of course, Aku was in Ravenclaw, so she almost expected to follow him--even though she knew it was possible for family to be split in terms of Houses. But, she liked to think of herself as intelligent. And she had a passion for learning. So really, she was almost expecting that to be her House. But who knew. The girl nodded slightly, noticing he hadn't really answered her question but deciding not to push for a reply. She reached out a hand and traced her finger along the side of her drink cup. "I'd like to be in Ravenclaw." she murmured, staring at the side of the cup.

He had a feeling, watching her face as he talked, that she had some sort of notion about Hufflepuffs and the other Houses. Most everyone did, he couldn't blame her. He probably had bias in him too about it. Nofalo allowed the corner of his mouth to again rise in the smallest of smirks as he listened to her hope, a opened his mouth slightly to half-whisper, "'...Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind, where those of wit and learning, will always find their kind,'" he recited, remembering a small part of the small rhymes he'd found while barely skimming over the beginnings of Hogwarts, A History as he'd been waiting in the line at Dervish and Banges. "Ravenclaw would be an interesting House, in my opinion. But there is nothing wrong with Hufflepuff either--I just don't think I'd belong there. There is something to be said about kindness and loyalty. I think...well maybe, I mean...if more people were Hufflepuffish, the world might be a better place," he paused in his thoughts, watching the clouds again, before he broke from his short reverie and blinked back to the girl sitting in front of him. "Of course, all Houses have their stereotypes. Gryffindors are arrogant--which is of course not always the case. And I think Slytherin in general gets a bad wrap. Voldemort may have come from there, but so did heroes like Severus Snape. Slytherin House seems the most...complicated. Many seem to have...complicated pasts, hard childhoods...maybe..." He looked up again, realising he'd been staring down at the table tracing patterns in the wood and his ramblings getting quieter and quieter, probably seeming rather like a fool. His face reddened slightly again, and he folded his hands in his lap and straightened. "Forgive me, he said formally, "I hope I haven't bored you. If you...need to leave, I don't want to keep you." He murmured, his gaze dropping now, wondering where her family must be. He was sure she'd have a nice one--she seemed like she would. Or at least, hopefully a better childhood than his own.

Intrigued, the girl watched him, eyes filled with a cool curiosity. The blurb about Ravenclaw made her straight slightly, and she had to stop herself from mouthing the words along with him. She reached out her hand to drag her cup closer, and swirled it about briefly, listening to the water slosh against the sides of the object. She glanced down at it, then back at the boy as he went on. Yes. She liked his thoughts--the world did need more people with the traits Hufflepuff revered. She kneaded her fingers together again as she nodded vigorously. Eevana shifted as the boy spoke more, and tilted her head thoughtfully. And yes, she had nothing against Slytherin despite it's reputation. Like the boy said, there were as many good people to come out of it as there were bad people--and certainly more. Her eyes dropped slightly as his speech dwindled away, and she merely gave a more subtle nod.

The apology he gave a short moment later made her eyes return to his face quickly, and almost widen slightly. "No, you haven't bored me." she replied honestly, shuffling her feet against the wooden bench. She cast her teal gaze around briefly, but didn't expect to see her family, so she quickly returned it to the boy. She didn't think she needed to leave just yet, as it wasn't late and they had plenty of time to get her her owl. A flicker of excitement ran through her at the thought. She hoped she'd see more of this boy, at least sometime. It was nice to actually enjoy someone's company other than her kin. "I don't think I need to go, just yet. What's your name?" she added, realizing with some surprise that they hadn't already gone through this introductory procedure.

Nofalo was glad he hadn't been annoying to the girl. He was encouraged by her animated nodding, happy to have a good conversation with someone his age in such a long time. She hadn't even asked about the scratches and bruises on his person--at least, the ones on his face, the ones she could see, and it was a nice change to not get strange glances because of them. He straightened further as he too realised with surprise that he hadn't even given his name. "Ah, how rude of me, I apologise," he nodded his head lightly, "I am Nofalo Forradas Kizuato," he himself introduced rather formally, holding out a long, thin, pale hand towards her in fairly-friendly acquaintance.

Eevana shrugged her shoulders ever so slightly. It wasn't a big deal, really. She hesitantly reached forwards to shake his hand, and then drew back quickly, returning her hand to the safety of her hoodie pocket. "My name's Eevana Rinarrn." she murmured, not bothering to give her middle name--merely because she didn't feel like adding it in. The girl shifted slightly and watched him, biting her tongue. Her gaze flicked around for a moment, calmly, then her eyes widened slightly. Her brother's slim figure had appeared through the crowd, weaving in her direction. Eevana scooted to the side, her forearm sliding out to grasp her drink and tug it towards her as if preparing to leave. Aku halted a pace from her and glanced from his sister to the boy across the table. A slight smirk appeared on his face, but he didn't say anything right away. Eevana flipped her legs off the bench and froze there, waiting for a reaction. "You're talking to a boy, Eeve?" her brother asked, his tone teasing. Eevana frowned, feeling her face warm up a little, and simply grunted softly as a response. What was he doing here now? She supposed her father had sent him to fetch her so they could finish up the shopping.

Nofalo gave a gentle smile as she introduced herself, withdrawing his hand once she had taken it. He was about to say something when someone in the crowd caught her attention, and an older boy that bore a bit of a similarity to Eevana, with sandy brown hair and hazel-green eyes, walked up to them. His gaze flicked quickly between the two younger kids before he stepped near Eevana and teased her lightly, a smirk on his face. Nofalo watched the interaction, glad he didn't feel his face redden too much. 'That must be a brother of hers,' he thought, as she turned to the older boy. He looked to be about sixteen. A few moments after her brother found her, a taller man with tannish hair that looked to be their father walked towards them as well. Nofalo was quickly getting a bit nervous with this many new faces. He reached in front of him and closed his book, bringing it onto his lap where he traced the edge of the worn cover with his fingers, hoping now that they would leave soon without too many questions. He smiled nervously when he noticed Eevana's brother glance at him again, but then his deep green-blue eyes flicked to the two other kids' father as he approached. "We were wondering where you had gone off to, Eevana," he acknowledged his daughter with a gentle smile, before turning attention to Nofalo, "And who is this? A friend?" Nofalo stood a bit quickly, pushing his book onto the bench beside him as he offered a hand to the man and bowed his head quickly, "Nofalo Kizuato, sir," he introduced himself again. Eevana's father shook Nofalo's hand, his calloused palm nearly engulfing Nofalo's thin hand, and the man introduced himself as Quesnan Rinarrn. As he took Nofalo's hand, the boy noticed that Quesnan's green eyes seemed to narrow in something nearing suspicion. Nofalo could almost feel his scrapes and bruises crawl against his skin, and though he was glad when Mr. Rinarrn finally let go of his hand, Nofalo knew the man must be thinking about what could cause such scarring marks on an eleven year old boy. He'd been the victim of such looks for a long enough time to know when it was best to leave.

Luckily, just then, he heard a familiar, though stern, voice call from the edge of the street. "Nofalo!" the boy's head whipped around as he heard his name paired with that familiar tone, and actually felt some relief at seeing his father's tall form and piercing eyes watching him through the crowd. He hurriedly checked his supplies on the small trolley they had, turning back to the Rinarrn family quickly. He bowed his head a bit, still a bit shaken, "I'm-I'm sorry, I  have to go," he nodded respectfully towards Quesnan Rinarrn, hoping his voice did not hold the apprehension he felt under his questioning gaze, "It was nice to meet you, Mr. Rinarrn, sir" he then turned quickly to Eevana, nodding once to her brother before looking to her and giving a small tight-lipped smile and a nod, "I guess I'll see you in school then, Eevana. Goodbye," Nofalo turned away, holding tight to the small trolley, and all but ran towards his father, weaving through the crowd.

She was almost glad for the appearance of her father; for it meant she didn't need to reply to Aku's comment. Though, she wouldn't have had words anyway. She clutched at her bag and slid off the bench, standing up to her not-so-tall height and gazing a little awkwardly at her family. She shifted from one foot to the other as her father spoke, first to her--and she dipped her head a little apologetically--and then to the boy across the table. Nofalo quickly introduced himself, and she thought he looked very nervous indeed, though perhaps not overall noticeable--just so in the little things he did (as of course, it was what she herself did). She watched the brief meeting between Nofalo and her father, and wrought her hands against her hoodie as a certain coolness seemed to shroud the two for a moment before they broke apart.

Eevana turned to the voice calling Nofalo's name, and spotted a tall man as the speaker. She plainly guessed it was his father, and returned her tealish eyes to the boy himself as he made his leave. She caught the glance directed towards her, and even the almost forced smile, and managed to nod briefly back, her fingers fluttering in the smallest of waves. She pressed her hand to her torso, the bag over her arm swinging a little. She patted it comfortingly--the wand was in there--and then glanced to her dad. He still wore a rather hard expression, and she blinked a question at him, but he merely shook her off and beckoned her. "Let's get your owl." Was all he said as he moved through the food court. She frowned ever so slightly, quite sure he wasn't saying all, but merely sighed and moved forwards. She wasn't old enough to talk back and weasel the truth from him yet. Even Aku couldn't do that. Perhaps it was just her father's nature. Eevana glanced to her brother, who gave a slight shrug and followed. The two set off after their dad, with the girl giving a last look back to the strange boy who'd vanished into the crowd.

[I guess skippy? To maybe platform 9 3/4 the next day?]

Once Nofalo finally got to his father, he looked up into his angular face, relieved that his father's call had interrupted his meeting with the strangely intense gaze of Mr. Rinarrn. With a quiet grunt, his father led the way through the busy Diagon Alley, to finish up on the shopping, collect Nofalo's mother, and prepare for Nofalo's departure to Hogwarts the next day. The boy looked over his shoulder once, spotting a glimpse of blondeish hair and a green sweatshirt, before the crowd closed behind him.

Time SKIIIIIIIIIP (short one ^^')

Nofalo walked calmly after his father, pushing his trolley full of belongings in front of him as his mother worried on, did he have this, make sure to pack this and that. After a while, Resa Kizuato's worrying got the better of her and she sped up her thin legs to walk next to her husband, putting a small hand on his broad but lean shoulder as she leaned close to whisper in his ear. They obviously thought Nofalo couldn't hear, but he wasn't deaf. In fact, he rather entertained the idea that werewolfism had enhanced some of his senses, hearing and smell in particular.
"I just don't know, Xirtan. I know that Professor Evercreech's assured us, but with his-his...you know, his...condition, maybe we should wait...just a bit maybe..." Resa licked her lips nervously, her fingers tightening a bit on her husband's shoulder. He reached up a hand to cover hers, muttering back, "He's of first-year age, Resa. It's now or never. Stop worrying, believe in your son." Resa ran her free hand through her loose chesnut brown hair, a small smile slipping across her features, "You know I do, Xirtan. I'm just-just worried about him..." The man gently took her hand off his shoulder, instead intertwining their fingers and giving her hand a small squeeze, "As am I, darling. But he wants this. He needs it."Nofalo sniffed out a breath, unsure how to feel. He was a bit miffed that his mother was still on about it, but at the same time, he held nearly the same fears deep in his heart. He'd tried not to think about it, but what if...what if someone found him out? Either way...either way, he thought, his father was right. He did want this, and he would do all he could to keep it. He watched them together, still holding hands, his father seemingly able to quell his mother's qualms for now. His father had always been very gentle and caring towards his mother, but when it came to interactions with Xirtan's son it was far more commonly a tough love. Of course he was quite happy his parents got along so well, but he often wished his dad would be as kind to him as he was to his mother. Trying to push their conversation out of his mind, he realised the family was nearing the pillar between platforms nine and ten. His father had told him what they had to do, but still he was a bit nervous. This was a turning point.

Resa and Xirtan turned to their son, stopping many feet from the pillar that would lead them to Platform 9 & 3/4. Resa whispered, "Are you ready, darling?" and Nofalo smiled at her in excitement, trying to swallow the lump in his throat. Xirtan nodded curtly at his son, and Nofalo thought his golden eyes might have shone with something close to pride. The boy nodded back, and rolled his trolley around in front of his parents to face the pillar. He took a deep breath, steeled himself, made sure his trolley was lined up perfectly to the pillar, and began running. As soon as he would've hit the hard stone, Nofalo closed his eyes but kept running. The impact never came. He knew it wouldn't, to be honest, but still there was some getting used to in running into a brick wall at such a speed. As he opened his green-blue eyes wide, he breathed in amazement and didn't even notice as a huge smile spread across his face. Before him was the magnificent red and black Hogwarts Express, shining like the beacon of hope that it was. He let out a breathless laugh, not able to stop smiling. It wasn't until he felt a hand on his shoulder that he shook himself back to reality. His mother was smiling down at him, faint tears in her eyes.

The family continued on, going at a gentle pace. Nofalo was still wearing a dark green pastel-coloured button-up with sleeves that were a bit too long for his arms, and nice dark grey-black jean trousers. He planned on changing into his new robes when they got closer to Hogwarts They were a little early to the platform, but not overly so, and Nofalo was able to give a few last goodbyes before he went to load his luggage on the train. He found an empty compartment after a while of searching, and stood on the seat to wrangle his trunk onto the luggage rack above. He ran out once more to say goodbye to his parents--his mother of which sported a tear-stained face at this point, though she made not a noise. She pulled him into a hug, and he could feel her breath on the back of his neck and he thought the shoulder of his shirt got a bit wet when a few of her tears dripped onto it, but he didn't really mind. His father gave him a firm handshake, "Farewell, Son." Nofalo returned the handshake, looking up into his father's eyes, "Goodbye, Father. Take care of Mother," Xirtan gave a small smile, nodding slightly, and Resa engulfed her son in yet another teary hug. After reassuring her for about the seventh time that yes he would write often, alright he'd try and make friends, of course he would work hard, and 'yes, I'll behave, Mother,' Nofalo boarded the train and trotted to his compartment, opening the window to watch his parents as the train began chugging slowly out of the docking area. There was a chorus of children and parents yelling goodbyes, hands sticking out of windows and waving furiously. Nofalo raised his hand a bit, peeking it out the window to give small waves towards his parents until he could hardly distinguish them from the mass of relatives on the platform, multicoloured sleeves flapping on arms and hats in hands as all waved and called encouragement and farewells to the departing children. Nofalo settled down in his lonely compartment, satisfied for now to look out the window at the countryside speeding by. He had a long ride ahead of him, and a great adventure at it's end.

[sadly too lazy to write about getting her owl.]

e e v a n a

Her brother took the lead, with his cart bumping along in front, the trunk rattling around against all the other stuff packed in. He didn't seem too fazed by the stares of onlookers as they headed towards the cross-way to the platform. Though personally, Eevana felt quite odd pushing the trolley, especially with her new owl's cage tied down on top. It was a beautiful male barn owl--she'd named him Nakamoren. He was looking a little ruffled, but of course she felt just the same as she trotted after her brother and father, trying to pretend the muggles around weren't staring quite so intently. It was a relief to get closer to the brick wall that led to Platform 9 and 3/4. She watched as they came to a casual halt, and her father gestured to her brother. Glancing around, Aku stepped forwards, and brushed against the wall, as if he was just leaning into it. Then he'd vanished. She'd watched him do that many times, since she'd always come to wish him off. And of course, she'd been through that wall before, seen that glittering red engine, and watched as her brother waved and called out before he'd vanished along with numerous other children, chugging away on the train. Still, it was a thrill to be doing it herself--to be going along with him for the first time. She squeezed her fists on the trolley handles, then walked forwards and through the wall, her father just behind her.

She stepped out onto the smooth concrete surface of the platform and her eyes immediately flicked to the bright train that sat puffing smoke just meters away. Excitement fizzed within her; she'd be going this time! She glanced around, noticing that the people running about seemed rather rushed--were they late? Her eyes darted to the large clock. Cutting it close, yes! She looked towards her father, whose expression was slightly strained. "Come on." He nudged her forwards, and she headed on. Aku had disappeared within the crowd already. It was time to say goodbye--the conductor was calling, and people were frantic. She hugged her father, feeling him squeeze her gently back and plant a quick kiss upon her brow. Then she stumbled away, lugging her baggage up and onto the train. She stumbled along the corridors, her heart thumping painfully as she awkwardly worked around numerous other students. Past compartment after compartment she stepped, trying to find one empty or at least with less than two people... no such luck.

After a short while--she'd felt the train had already started moving, and she was starting to panic--she came across a nearly-empty compartment. Her hand was slipping on the trunk handle, and her other hand was shaking with the effort of holding Nakamoren's cage. She peered in to see a young boy. Did he look familiar? How strange was that--it was Nofalo! She stared at him, but he wasn't looking her way, so she lifted the cage-holding arm and knocked her fist against the compartment door two times. She desperately hoped he'd allow her to sit.

He had only been staring out the window for a minute or so when he heard two tentative, shaky taps on the sliding door of the compartment he had chosen. Annoyance seeped into him as he blinked slowly, letting out a breath as he hoped it wouldn't be a group of kids looking for somewhere to sit or someone to pick on. He turned to look out into the walkway and saw that it was a small girl, heavily weighed down by her large trunk and the cage of a rather displeased-looking owl. He realised immediately that it was the same girl who had spoken to him at the food court--Eevana Rinarrn. He wondered as he stood and quickly went to the door why she had not tried to sit with her brother--but perhaps he had other friends in his own year he had wanted to sit with--assuming her brother went to Hogwarts as well. Nofalo fumbled with the door, soon sliding it open and stepping back to let her inside. For a moment he nervously looked behind her into the hallway, glad that she didn't have a bunch of first-year friends with her to crowd into the compartment. He slid the door partly-closed behind her as she tiredly deposited her owl cage onto a seat and rested her trunk on the floor for a moment. She asked in a quiet, slightly breathless voice if he was the only one here, if she could maybe sit with him, to which he nodded,"Obviously," and gestured to the compartment in deft invitation before he stepped up onto the seat next to her owl, careful not to tip the cage by dipping the seat cushion with his weight too close, and helped her heave the trunk onto the rack above the seats.

Eevana kept her owl's cage close to her on the seat, her fingers occasionally poking through the bars to stroke the owl's feathers. Nofalo watched the owl, admiring it's plummage, but after a minute it blinked at him and hooted, it's eyes sharp, seeming to be crowing at him in warning. Nofalo wasn't surprised--most animals took a more hostile stance towards him since he'd become a werewolf. Even some dogs were frightened of him more, it seemed. He assumed animals could just smell it on him, sense it somehow. Still, part of him had hoped her owl might accept him. A thought crossed through his mind--'Maybe it will if I spend more time with it...if Eevana and I become friends...' he quickly tried to dispel the thought, knowing it probably wouldn't be a good idea--especially considering how her father had seemed to know something about him was different. And anyways, what if she was a muggleborn or a half-blood? She seemed to him like she was at least a half-blood. Still, he was with her now, so he might as well try to have some conversation. He supposed she'd been nice enough, if a overly self-conscious and reserved. Nofalo cleared his throat slightly, his voice coming out a bit softer than he'd intended before he tried to speak at a more normal tone, "So, you've no friends to sit with? Nor you brother, apparently," he noted, not paying attention to he rudeness that had slipped into his tone. He'd never been accused of being too kind, at least not yet.

Once seated--albeit nervously and awkwardly, Eevana dropped her gaze. She found comfort in Nakamoren's presence, and poked her fingers through the bars of his cage to smooth his feathers. She cast a quick glance to the boy when her owl reacted in an odder way, as if wary of Nofalo--reminding her of an animal trying to ward off a predator. She stroked the feathers comfortingly and the owl clacked its beak in an aggravated way, but seemed to settle down some. This confused her greatly, but also made her think of the way her father had acted when he'd met the boy. Yet she couldn't fathom why. Could it have something to do with why he bore all those scars? It certainly wasn't natural for an eleven-year-old to look that way. She'd initially thought he'd had some sort of accident--not that she could imagine what exactly had done that to his face--but it was all she could come up with for now.

As Nofalo spoke she glanced up again and kicked her feet a little, reaching with her toes towards the ground that she couldn't reach unless she scooted far enough forwards. Her eyes darted away again. "Oh...no." she responded quietly, staring at the floor, where a small spider was making its path across. If she was younger she would have dropped off the seat and caught the spider to play with. "No, my brother prefers his own friends over his sister." she finished with a slight shrug. It wasn't really that she minded all that much--but on her very first trip she'd have thought he might have at least found her somewhere to sit. But then again, they had been in a rush to get here, and he'd probably forgotten about helping her, since he'd done this for five years already. She stroked Nakamoren some more.

Nofalo watched her face as she spoke, giving a noncommittal, "Mmm," when she'd finished. He wondered momentarily if she would strike up a conversation--perhaps ask him about his scars, maybe mention the way her owl was behaving or his introduction with her father earlier in the day, perhaps even the doldrums of a story about her school shopping today. Anything to help put a stop to the slightly-awkward silence that had befallen them. He didn't want to straight-out ask if she was pureblood or not--although he could be rude at times, his father had taught him some amount of courtesy, especially towards females. It was the kind of person his father was, and therefore some of that had rubbed off on Nofalo as he'd grew. The boy looked out the window, pulling his legs up on to the seat in front of him, he crossed his arms over his knees and rested his head down on them, rather drawing in on himself as per usual. It wasn't something he thought about, or really tried to do, it just often happened. Part of it might be the hostility of the owl's gaze upon him, as he was used to getting out of the way when he was under scrutiny such as that, even though the creature's temper didn't bother him consciously. Either way, Nofalo allowed his mind to wander, as it had been wanting to do so often recently, and for a moment forgot about the young girl in the compartment with him.

Eevana dipped her gaze as the conversation dwindled to nothingness, and turned her head to stare out the window at the countryside flashing by. For a little bit it felt awkward, but as her thoughts took over she didn't think much of the boy across the compartment and instead almost relaxed a little. Her arm drew back from where it had been over her stomach, and she let her fingers splay across the seat, while her other hand continued to stroke and rub against her owl in a comforting way. She was ever so pleased to have him. She'd always wanted one, ever since Aku had gotten Kubree, his majestic spotted owl. Eevana had often been put in charge of Kubree during the summer when her brother was doing other things, and she always had taken care of her whenever he'd sent letters during the school year. She was no stranger to animals, considering their home's location and her inquisitive nature, as well as her father's career, too. But this was the first time she'd owned one. Her father had never let her before, not even a rat or something small. His words were that she'd be getting an owl come her time to go to Hogwarts. And the time had come.

She looked fondly back at Nakamoren for a moment, admiring him yet again. He met her gaze with his beautiful dark eyes and clicked his beak again at her. She lifted her head and resumed her lazy watch outside. The train was moving smoothly over the land, and there was a beautiful view of open green pastures as well as thick forests, and in the distance, slowly approaching, rising mountains. Eevana felt a flutter of excitement rush through her. She cast her tealish eyes swiftly towards the boy, whose legs where tucked up and he was gazing out the window, expression stoic as it always seemed to be. Similar to her, she supposed. She watched him for a moment, wanting to say something yet not wanting to talk at all. Then she turned back away, unable to think of anything, and continued to stare outside, leaning her head against the back of the seat.
