The young dragon heard the steady wingbeats and swiveled her head around at a small chirruping noise. Easily spotting the golden shape heading in her general direction, Alaväda let a puff of smoke curl from her nostrils. She didn't appear to show any displeasure other than that, and even that was minor--she always snorted. At everything. She kept her thoughts to herself for now and merely jabbed her head back down to inspect the ground. It wasn't really a 'sure come with me', but nor did she go outright and send him off. She was in the mood to have him around right now. She flapped up a little, ascending to obtain a slightly better view of the spreading trees. She paid Shïnrai little attention. Instead she just focused on the possible prey. She noticed a few things; bears, a raccoon, squirrels, and the like. With her extensive vision it was easy to pick out even small rodents like that--that nowadays were barely a mouthful for a growing dragon. Before long, though, she picked out tawny shapes through the trees--a herd of deer. It'd be a quick grab-and-go sort of tactic. They'd look up and see her and Shïnrai soon, though, so it must be fast. She expected her companion to collect his own meal, be it from this herd or somewhere else.

Alavada adjusted her wings and dove down towards the canopy gently. She slowed, beating her wings furiously to keep airborne. It was tricky. She fumbled a little in the air, legs striking out for balance. With a huff the young dragon sped down through the leaves, making an ungraceful descent with much scattering of foliage. Undeterred, she continued down as the group of light-brown-slim-beasts panicked, fleeing in all directions. Alavada picked one and struck down, extending her talons. She made contact with fur and let her weight drop even more, all the while sinking her claws into flesh. She came to a halt after a small tumble, in which the deer buckled and probably broke its legs. The dragon flared out her wings as they stopped moving, and she straightened up, glancing down at the deer beneath her. Not too crushed, good. She shook herself and folded her wings to her side. No need to kill it, the pain of having a dragon crash into you at high speed and slam you across the forest did a good enough job of ending your life. A little snickering rumble came from the violet dragon's jaws, and she glanced around once for Shïnrai, out of curiosity. Perhaps she'd find him and they'd eat together. Snaking down her neck, she clasped the deer's head in her jaws and tugged it's slightly bent up form upwards, then began to amble awkwardly across the forest floor. Too lazy to fly--plus lifting this might be difficult--she continued back towards where the herd had initially scattered from to search for her golden kin. She didn't bother sending out her mind, just in case danger lurked nearby.

Shïnrai watched for a moment as Alaväda zeroed in on a herd of deer, beginning her hunt. He had noticed the herd as well, and figured he might as well pick off one of the panicking deer once Alaväda had made her choice. A bit after her descent, he too flew back towards the trees, a bit ahead of where she landed. He was able to avoid clipping off too much foliage by maneuvering carefully through the trees and undergrowth, but there were still many telltale snaps and rustlings in his wake as he lighted onto the ground, right forepaw grabbing onto a tree for balance and clawing gouges down it as he landed on the ground and struggled to refold his wings properly. Peering into the clearing, he watched his hunting partner tackle and take down an animal as the herd trumpeted and scrambled away in fear. He waited, half-watching Alaväda tumble through the forest, her claws sinking into a good-sized deer, and half-watching the fleeing herd. Soon, one poor-sighted deer decided a good escape route would be awfully close to the set of bright golden-orange eyes peeking out of a blackberry bush. As it rushed towards him, bounding fairly far to his right, the dragon reached out a paw and turned it to bar the way for the deer. As soon as the mammal breached the bushes it slammed into a great clawed, scaled barrier, letting out a confused cry. Shïnrai slapped his paw down, pushing the deer onto it's side with enough force to break it's spine. The dragon snorted in triumph, kicking his kill into the clearing and settling down to inspect his meal, waiting to see if Alaväda would return.

The violet she-dragon paraded back, head held high, clutching the deer. It dangled limply from her jaws, legs twisted awkwardly and hind end lightly dragging over the forest floor. Alaväda set her sights forwards, and before long caught that familiar glimmer of gold through the earthy greens of Du Weldenvarden. She snaked up her head and let out a guttural noise of greeting. He'd caught something to; she spotted the tawny shape lying on the ground before him. The dragon came to a halt when they were yards away, and let her catch drop roughly down with a mere opening of her jaws. She eyed his for a moment, then shrugged mentally and sat down with a thud. Not waiting any longer, Alaväda dropped her head and dug her fangs into the meat, beginning to rip and tear.

Following her lead, Shïnrai sank his jaws into his kill, savouring the succulent meat as he ripped the carcass with powerful, ivory teeth dyed red with gore. They ate in relative silence, every once in a while eyeing one another. As the two dragons finished their meal, licking their lips. The golden dragon focused for a moment on his connection to his dark-haired-pale-eyed-partner and checked up on him, assuring himself that his bipedal partner-of-mind-and-heart was safe, before glancing at the she-dragon nearby. He blinked good-naturedly, large eyes slinking closed and then open again slowly to show kindness. He licked the ground a bit where the remains were, taking in the last morsels of meat and juices stained on the grass. Kneading the ground a few times, the reptilian beast swished his tail behind him, whacking a tree as he brought it around to his side, raising to his feet. In general he did his best to keep away from Alaväda's mind, not wanting to offend her, but he felt he would try today. Something simple, easy. He wouldn't intrude much. Sending a few tendrils of his bass voice, he asked her simply, Shall we? He readied his sunset-and-light-wings, preparing to return to their Riders. They had been gone fetching a meal for a bit over half an hour, and through their link Shïnrai could tell Círdan was obviously getting more depressed and annoyed by the minute. Sometimes he honestly worried about his Rider's emotional and mental state--for as long as he'd known him, his elf had lived with a dark cloud over his head, only lightening a bit when he was in a particularly good mood, usually when Shïnrai was able to get him into one. But they never lasted long. He didn't like to be away from his tall-thin-fragile-boned-partner for long.

In a short while she'd consumed the whole of the deer, and lifted her blood-stained jaws in contentment, sated and with that typical after-meal laziness setting in. That wouldn't do for now, though. She didn't like to be parted from her partner-of-mind-and-soul for so long, and it'd already been a good while since she'd departed the two elven youths. She caught the golden-kin's eyes briefly, before he turned away, and she let her attention drift through the woods. Though she glanced back when she heard the clink of scales and thuds as Shïnrai rose to clawed paws. Not long after she detected his mind, cautiously edging towards hers, with a question flitting out. The violet-colored dragoness slowly heaved herself up as well. Certainly, came her reply, a little hard-edged, but that was quite the norm. She sniffed at the ground where her kill had once lain, lapping up the last scraps. Then she stepped forwards, unfurling the amaranthine wings from her sides, and arching her neck. She broke into a trot, then with a few heavy snaps of wing she was airborne once more. She angled up, almost vertical, to break from the tree line and soar into open sky. Her muscles burned from the sudden effort of climbing directly up, but as she leveled out the thermals rushed below her, aiding her in her flight. Alaväda let out a soft rumble and shook her head, beginning to make her way towards the two elves.

Círdan resisted the urge to curl his nose in displeasure, a scowl already prominent on his features, as the two elves continued on. He didn't like having to be stuck on an aimless adventure with Bharavase and the dragons, but it was far worse when the dragons were absent. Everything was beginning to get on his nerves--at this point, the would be at his wits end even the way the other elf would leap over a fallen tree, and then look back at Círdan as if he didn't believe he too could cross the obstacle with just as much ease--if not more, which was usually the case. He wished he had wings like Shïnrai, so he too could fly away from the group even for a little while (though preferably for a long while). He felt his dragon's familiar bass tone, now mockingly offended, and knew his dragon was close, You would even leave me? Though he knew his partner was mostly joking, Círdan mentally scoffed and unknowingly relaxed slightly as he felt the dragon's presences near again, returned from their hunt and in fairly amiable spirits. The golden beast's thought tone rumbled through Círdan's mind, and the elf understood that Shïnrai enjoyed that he could help his Rider, even in this way. Ah, where would you be without me? he asked, letting a teasing tone leak into the words. Círdan grumbled and replied back, I assume I would not be out in the middle of Du Weldenvarden with who I believe to be the most aggravating elf in the realms and a large, far too happy dragon invading my thoughts... he trailed off, but Shïnrai rumbled in amusement, knowing his partner-of-mind-and-soul meant no ill will towards him. They were quite the pair.

The red-eyed youth felt the welcoming presence of his dragon's mind as she came within range, confidence and satisfaction surging through their mental link. Her contentment fed his own, and he blinked with the delight he always felt when they were reunited. Her royal purpleness was not in sight yet, but Bharavase focused his attention on the sky when she would return. Anything but bothering with present company. What did you just call me? Came Alaväda's indignant voice, low and smooth. Royal "purpleness"? Bharavase felt the teasing embedded within her tone, and he merely scoffed mentally. Come now, it was a compliment. Aren't you the most majestic, beautiful, glittering, marvelous, skilled violet creature in existance? He thought back to her, amused by the pride he felt from her in return. I am, she sniffed, and receded for a moment, nearly making the young elf smile.
